Lifestyles Frequently Asked Questions

What do I wear? What do I bring?

Trainers and sportswear are ideal, make sure you feel comfortable. Please bring a small towel to wipe the machines off after you have used them; and a bottle of water to keep you well hydrated.


Will I be shown how to use the equipment?

Yes, should you require this we provide a free induction given by a qualified trainer in which we will show you how to operate the equipment. You can book this induction session when you join, or on your first visit to the club. The induction is not compulsory for those who are frequent gym users. Should you wish to waive the induction we will ask you to sign a health and safety disclaimer. Your induction includes instructions on how to use your Wellness Key and the many benefits it offers.


Can I pay each visit instead of a membership?

Yes, but depending on how often you want to use the gym it may be more cost effective to become a Lifestyles Member. Ask a member of staff about all the fantastic benefits available from Lifestyles.


What is included in my Lifestyles membership?

Access to three centres across the city. Please see the membership packages page for the full details.


Can I attend Group Exercise Classes?

Yes, classes are free to members (except specialist classes where a nominal fee is charged). Just turn up and join in! If you need any help/advice with regard to classes then please contact our Studio Coordinator, who will be more than happy to help you choose a class most suitable for your needs. We have over 100 classes running every week over the 3 sites and have something to suit everyone.


Do I need to bring my membership card on each visit?

Yes, your card is required for each visit. Please show it at Reception so it can be swiped.


What are the wristbands for?

Wristbands must be worn at all times so we can monitor numbers, which ensures you can enjoy your Lifestyles experience to the fullest.


Are lockers available?

Yes, please store your personal belongings in a locker. Lockers require a returnable £1 coin or a locker/trolley token.


What is a Wellness Key?

A Wellness Key makes it easier to track your workouts, by tracking all your workout data. You can create an account to access your Wellness Key data online. After each workout you can check how many calories you’ve burned, distance travelled and weights lifted. You can also book in with an Instructor to review all your workout data. Access your data online at mywellness.com.


I’m not seeing the results I wanted. I’ve lost motivation…

The ‘6 Appeal’ journey is designed to help you achieve your goals, and if you’re not seeing the results you wanted then you should book in with an instructor – it’s free for all members. Lifestyles also have a number of personal trainers available to increase your workout productivity.


Can I freeze my membership?

Yes, you can freeze your membership after 6 months for 1-3 months. There is £5 monthly charge for this but as soon as the period is up, your direct debit payment will resume automatically. Membership freeze Forms are available at reception.


What happens if I miss a monthly payment?

If for any reason your direct debit fails then you will be unable to use the facilities until payment is received. We will contact you to arrange for this payment to be made, which can be via your bank or over the counter. You will also be charged an administration fee of £10.


Do you have a Corporate or Team Membership Schemes?

Yes, even though our membership fees are low we can always do something to make your workforce a healthier one! We require a consistent minimum of five or more people from any association to enter into the scheme. Please contact the membership sales advisor to discuss this option further.


How do I cancel my membership?

A cancellation request form (available at reception) must be completed and submitted before the 7th of each month to give us 30 days written notice. The membership is a minimum of 6 months and cancellation before then will result in a request for any remaining payments. It is the customer’s responsibility to cancel their direct debit instruction with the bank. Please note refunds may not be given for overpayment if instruction is not cancelled.
