Swimming Coordinator

CV Life are looking to recruit a Swimming Coordinator to support our community development team.

The ideal candidate for this position will be confident and outgoing and able to work as part of a team. Predominantly, the key responsibilities will be in assisting with administration of the Aquarius Swimming School Programme; therefore, good organisational and administrative skills are essential.

You will also have experience in delivering a variety of swimming lessons to children and adults of all ages and abilities – relevant swimming qualifications will be advantageous. Supporting the planning and delivery of in-centre programmes in school term-time and holidays will be necessary. Good communication and leadership skills are also required for this role.

The successful applicants will be required to work days, evenings and weekends, therefore a flexible attitude to shift work is essential. You will be primarily based at Centre AT7, however you may be required to provide support across other centres.

Main Duties of the Role

Overall purpose and objective of the role:

To assist with the planning and delivery of all aspects of Swimming Lessons, School Swimming Lessons and all other Community Development programmes.

  • To plan and prepare the delivery of swimming lessons and ensure that all-coaching sessions and practices are within the current guidelines of ASA and other governing bodies as are appropriate.
  • To maintain all administrative records relating to Swimming Lessons and programme development, as directed by the Swimming Development Manager.
  • To be regularly deliver the prescribed number of Swimming Teacher sessions to both our School Swimming Programme and Aquarius Swimming School Programme.
  • To be actively involved in Swimming Development issues outside of our programmes, including events, meetings and activity promotion as directed by the Community Development Manager.
  • To assist in the planning, review and development of all new and existing unit and lesson plans and Swimming Development work programmes.
  • To maintain all administrative records relating to Swimming Lessons and programme development, as directed by the Swimming Development Manager.
  • To attend all project review and forward planning meetings.
  • To set up and break down equipment as necessary for sessions, adhering to the correct procedures for a safe handling and storage of equipment.
  • To ensure that adequate standards of Health and Safety considerations are maintained at all times, in accordance with the Health and Safety policy.
  • To undertake regular stock checks of project equipment, reporting all losses and damages.
  • To respond to accidents with the appropriate measures of first aid, ensuring that all records relating to accidents are completed immediately afterwards.
  • To perform facility duties as required by the Swimming Development Manager when not otherwise engaged with or required for project responsibilities.
  • To contribute to the professional development and guidance of Further Education and work Placement Students.
  • To seek personal professional development by pursuing relevant experiences and appropriate qualifications.
  • To help plan and deliver training events and lead on Swimming Teacher Meetings.
  • To co-ordinate Swimming Crash Courses during School Holidays.
  • The principle place of employment will be Centre AT7 but the employee may be required to work and carry out the tasks as defined in the Employment Specification at and on behalf of all relevant company sites as the company may direct.
  • To actively promote the work and public image of the Company, by always maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly, professional approach to the public.
  • To undertake other duties, as specified by the Centre Manger or a member of the Senior Management, which are appropriate to the level and general responsibilities of the post.

  • Experience of planning and delivering Swimming Lessons as a volunteer or in paid employment in either a school, club or community setting
  • Experience of monitoring/evaluation of sessions.

  • Experience working with disadvantaged groups
  • Experience working with special needs children
  • Knowledge of relevant national governing body programmes, policies and procedures
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of Swimming Development, including School and Club development
